Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.00.0013 ( 9/04/2009 - 1:30pm bst)
Fixed small bug when trying to view the source code to a index.htm web page that ends without the /index.htm bit.
Displaying the page created date and page modified date problem.
Because the page dates are stored as a string and not a date value from the file, it is impossible to tell if the string is in the International date format or the north American format.
Different file types and different domains and local files store the date string in different date formats.
This program attempts to workout the format by checking if the day or month is grater than the 12th.
Eg. There are not 13 months in a year with ' 2/13/2009' so must be '13/02/2009'.
If the day and month are both before the 13th, then the date will be read using the most common format for your local files and Internet files.
You are now warned if you try to save a file over an old file.
Can now save just the page text (no formatting) if you wish. (Only works with some file types.)
WebWindow now checks if it is on-line before trying to read the additional version information from the Internet. (See notes below)View - Internet status = Displays the current type of Internet connection. (See notes below)Note; If you are blocking traffic with some Internet security software then WebWindow will say that you have a connection if connected but blocked.
Removed the 'TEST' menu option. (This option was used in testing this application only)
All URL's are displayed in the normal format. (Eg. 'file:///C:/My%20files/V%20Basic/Test.htm' now displayed as 'C://My files/V Basic/Test.htm')
Now checks that the current page has been added to the history list in two places. (When the url changes and when the status returns 'Done', as some pages never return 'Done' or complete.)
All WebWindow windows are now moved into the desktop area. Older versions would move all windows into the main monitor (1) screen area only.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.00.0014 (11/04/2009 - 8:30pm bst)

From version 0.00.0012 program would read the desktop area from the whole desktop and not just the main monitor area.
Some versions of Windows with a single monitor would return the desktop area as 0 pixels wide by 0 pixels height so window would always open in the top left corner as small as possible.
If a single monitor systems return an area of 0 by 0 pixels for the desktop, then this program will get the area from the screen width and height values.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.00.0016 (21/04/2009 - 8:00pm bst)
The favourites list now displays the page names, rather than just the page addresses.
The edit favourites list menu option is now disabled if you are not viewing a page or file. (Eg. A directory or about:blank etc.)
The favourites list is saved to the registry when you update the list and not when WebWindow closes down now.
(This means if you open two windows, edit the list in window one and close it. Then when you close window two the new list from window one will not be replaced by the older list from window two)View - Page information, now displays directory and file list when viewing a directory. (Only works with local directories)
Fixed the bug that stopped displaying the history menu if browser was closed on the welcome page the last time and you have not visited any pages yet this time.
Added a 'Edit password' button in the File, Options... Restricted site list window. (Before you could only edit the password by using a separate program)
The edit the restricted web site password is 'WebWindow password', until you edit it.
You can enter the password in any case. Eg. 'Password' and 'passWORD' are both the same.
Spaces on the ends of the password are ignored, but spaces between letters must match. Eg. ' Password ' and 'Password' are both the same but 'Pass word' is different.
Note; You can only edit the password after you have enter the old correct password.
You can now close most of the windows, (except the main browser window) by pressing the Escape or Break key instead of clicking on cancel.

Fixed small bug when saving file or viewing file source code if address has extra information after a question mark.
Eg. http://markagius.co.uk/webpages/contents.htm?SubPage=countdown_xmas.htm?Tune=3 would return a bad file name or number error when saving or viewing source code.
http://markagius.co.uk/webpages/contents.htm?SubPage=countdown_xmas.htm?Tune=3 will now save or display source code from http://markagius.co.uk/webpages/contents.htm
When saving page with a question mark as above, the end from the ? will be removed from the default file name. Eg. contents.htm?SubPage=.. will display as contents.htm

then display the no access message now, rather than loading a copy of WebWindow and then displaying the no access message.
Fixed bug in the 'Restricted web site list' window. (Code was reading information from the top add url text when it should have read info from the delete url list)

When drag-dropping the page icon the file name is taken from the page title.
If there are any invalid file characters in the page title, then the file character will be swapped.
Old character;
"
*
/
<
>
?
\
|
. (See below)
Replaced by;
'
-
-
[
]
!
-
I
,
Note; The dot character is also swapped with the comma character, as a dot is used to mark the start of the file extent / file type.
Eg. If the page title is; MATHEMATICS / INFO | To multiply enter "10.5 * <Your value> = ?"
Then page saves as; MATHEMATICS - INFO I To multiply enter '10,5 - [Your value] = !'.lnk (Shortcut file)
or; MATHEMATICS - INFO I To multiply enter '10,5 - [Your value] = !'.htm (+CTRL to save web page)(Version 0.00.0026 would just display the error 'This page was not saved... directory may be a read only directory.')

(So if you change your mind during the drag, the icon and save action will change from/to a file or shortcut file)
When drag-dropping the page icon with CTRL held down. If there is already a file with the same name, a warning to abort saving the page or overwrite the old file is displayed. (This is the same as when creating a shortcut file over an old file)
When drag-dropping the page icon with CTRL held down. The end of page address from the first '?', '&' or '#' is removed. (This is the same as File, Saving the page)
If you try and CTRL drag a directory to save it as a file, then a message box will tell you that you can only save it as a shortcut file.
If you try and CTRL drag a page or file that was not found, then a message box will tell you that the page was not found. (Version 0.00.0026 would think that the file was not saved because the directory was locked)
After drag-dropping a page to create a shortcut file. (CTRL was not pressed) Click menu - Properties over the file, then Change Icon.. to select one of the inbuilt icons for this file.

(You can now view the source code from the following file types; htm, html, shtml, xml, mht, ftp, asp, aspx, cfm, eml, php, stm and txt)
You can now type or have an about: link in any case. Previous versions would check that the start of the about: string was in lower case only.
From version 0.00.0026 about: commands stopped working if clicked on a link to open/run it in the same top window or same frame.
(Opening in new windows and typing it into the address bar worked)
You can now run/load about commands from the address bar, in the same window/frame or in a new window/frame.
Added the Mozilla Easter egg. Will select by random one of three pages.
In previous versions, if the page is over &hBFFFF bytes,
not a local file,
a html file
and the convert line feeds / display header information option is ticked,
then an error would occur when trying to view the source code or saving the page.
(Test on the about:blog page)
If the page is over &h10000 bytes, not a local file and convert line feeds is ticked, then the title bar will display the percentage of code converted before displaying the code.

You can now also set the font used in printing the header/footer in the Header/Footer setup window.
Note; If a html page dose not select a font face then this font is also used,
but will not be altered until after you close and restart WebWindow.
Web page printout demonstration.
This is where the main part of the web page will be printed, using the font face and size set by the page.
The top header and bottom footer line font is set in the Header/Footer setup window.
If the page or part of a page dose not select a font then the header/footer font will be used or the plain fixed spaced font for text within <PRE> or <CODE> HTML tags.
This is how a page may printout if;
Header = &w&b&d - &t
Footer = &u&bPage &p of &P.
Page 1 of 12.
Note; This version lists all the fonts in your system and not just the fonts you can use for your header text.So when selection some fonts a different font may be used.I hope to fix this bug in a future version.

If you try and drag an about: page with CTRL held down then the page icon will change to the 'X' icon, as you can only save shortcuts to the about: page and not the page.
The date and time you installed the last version is now displayed in the About WebWindow box. (The date of the WebWindow.exe file)
The displayed date when trying to access a restricted page or frame, is now displayed in the date format as set in the options window and not always in the international date format.
When you press the return/enter key in the address bar to load a new page, you will no longer hear the beep sound.
Renamed File - Search (Ctrl+Ins) as File - Search page
Added File - Search box (F12). This will display/hide a text box where you can enter your search engine text. (This search box also lists your old searches)
The new search box (F12) also lists the last 100 searches you have made in a drop down list.
The Search box menu option will be disabled if the search page address as set in the options windows dose not include a search query.
Eg. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q= is ok, but http://www.google.co.uk will not display the search textbox.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.02.0029 (11/10/2009 - 8:00am bst)
In the options window you can now set where the source code is read from.
So when viewing the source code or saving a HTML page the data is read from the file as before, or from the browser object.
Viewing the source from a page ending with . .../comments.pl?action=rss&article_key=/text-effects/jswavetext.html
If 'Get page source code from file' is ticked, then the source code from file comments.pl will be displayed.
If 'Get page source code from displayed page' is ticked, then the page code will be displayed that was read from jswavetext.htmlNote;
When viewing the source code from the browser object, any characters not supported
by your text editor will be displayed as the '?' or '█' character.
Eg. 'Català, 中国简单, Čeština' = 'Català, ????, Ce█tina'.
If you enter an invalid file name or path in the options window for the text editor or email program, WebWindow
will try to convert it into a valid name. It will then display an error message if it can't.
'Access restricted' message is now said after a short time delay to allow the page/frame to be edited and hidden first.
Can now also view the source code from .pl files.
In File - Options - Options edit - Browser, you can now set this browser to run in the following languages; ♦

Fixed bug in the File - Options... - Restricted site list (Shift+Del) You can now change your password even if there are no websites in the 'to blocked listed'.
If you have installed Internet Explorer 8 then...
about:home will no longer work if typed into the address bar,
as a page link in the same window, as a page link to a new window,
as a link to a frame/i-frame, as a frame/i-frame or sub frame/i-frame.
This also stops it working in all old versions of WebWindow and the Home button if set to about:home.
The Netscape/SeaMonkey family of browsers have never supported about:home
To get the Home button working again with all versions of WebWindow, click on File - Options... - Options edit
Then in the options window under the Program tab, set the 'home page address' from 'about:home' to the real home page address.
(This should be the 3rd option down the list)
If the page you wish to use as your home page is not listed then;
Close the options window.
Go to the page you wish to use as your home page.
Open the options window again.
The page address should now be in the 'Home page address' list.
Click on OK to set this as your new home page.
This version now supports about:home even if IE 8 is installed with;
● The Home button. (Even if set to about:home in the options page)
● A link to about:home in this window.
● A link to about:home in a new window.
(about:home in frames/iframes and sub frames are not supported (Unless you are still using IE 7))Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.04.0031 (12/06/2010 - 4:30pm bst)
When using your search engine on the main window, the end of the URL is now removed.
Eg. Search box URL = 'http://www.google.co.uk/search?q='
Main page URL = 'http://www.google.co.uk/'
Older versions of WebWindow would use 'http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=' for the search box and the main page.
Using 'http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=' stopped working for a short time in May 2010
as Google displayed 'Your search did not match any documents'
as it failed to find any matches with ''.
You can now turn off the navagition error warning, in the options browser tab.
If 'Report navigation errors' is not ticked, then you will see no error message boxes or hear any error reports.
The error will still be added to the list of errors displayed in the View - Error list window.
The string 'WebWindow 0.04.0031' is now added to user-agent and app-version. (* Note 1)
This means that the web page can now check using Java script, (* Note 2) if it's being displayed with WebWindow and the version or some other browser.
Your user-agent string is; (navigator.userAgent)
(Note 1; The navigator.appVersion string is 'browser code name +navigator.userAgent' string)
(Note 2; The string 'WebWindow ...' is only added from this version, so the following code won't work with early versions)
The Java script code to check if page is displayed with a new version of WebWindow or not is;
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--
if(navigator.userAgent.indexOf(" WebWindow ")>=0){
// WebWindow version 0.04.0031 or later.
// Add/edit code here. EG. this.location = "webwindowPage.htm";
} else {
// Not WebWindow or version before 0.04.0031
// Add/edit code here. EG. this.location = "OtherBrowser.htm";
}
// -->
</SCRIPT>
Added Start page and Home page to the end of the Favourites menu.
Fixed bug when saving some files, (Not html, htm, shtml etc.) from the Internet with 'Convert all line feeds' and/or 'Add filename and date' ticked.
In the File, Options..., Options edit window, under the Set file types tab, you can now set the icon to use with different WebWindow files.
When this version of WebWindow is out of date, you will still be able to edit the options. (Older versions will disable options window when version is out of date)Note:Windows 95 and Windows 98 users only;
The string 'WebWindows 0.04.0031' is not added to the user-agent string with your system.
The list of icons in File, Options..., Options edit, Set file types, Edit file icons
only lists the WebWindow icons (About 41 icons in total) and not any of the system icons. (Over 230 icons)Windows Vista users only;
The string 'WebWindows 0.04.0031' is not added to the user-agent string with sone versions of Windows Vista.
The list of icons in File, Options..., Options edit, Set file types, Edit file icons
displays the WebWindow and system icons, but only updates some file type icons due to security settings.
Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.05.0032 (15/07/2010 - 8:00pm bst)
If you have Internet Explorer 8 installed on your system, then you can now set this browser to act like IE7 (as before) or IE8.
If you are still using IE7 or an earlier version then this option will be disabled.
You can set this in File, Options..., Options edit, Browser, Browser type.
The 3 options are;
● IE 7 = Display all pages in IE7 mode. Default setting when first run.
● IE 8 = Display pages in IE8 mode if page designed to use this or a later mode, otherwise displays in IE7 mode. Recommended setting.
● IE 8 (All pages) = Display all pages in IE8 mode, even if page designed to be displayed by an older version. Not recommended.
The User-agent string will be;
IE 7 mode
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0;... ... ...; WebWindow 0.05.0032)
IE 8 mode
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0;... ... ...; WebWindow 0.05.0032)
IE 8 mode (All pages)
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0;... ... ...; WebWindow 0.05.0032)
(Note; This only take effect in a new WebWindows after you update the option.)
The user-agent string should now also work on all versions of Windows Vista.
Windows 95 and Windows 98 still don't display WebWindow in user-agent string.
Windows Vista users: Code to set the file type icon now works with most file types.
You can now set WebWindow as your default browser. Click on 'Set WebWindow as the default browser' under the Browser tab in the options window.
If WebWindow is already your default browser, then this option will be disabled.

In File - Options... - Options edit, under the Browser tab you can now open the 'Internet options' and 'Firewall settings' windows.
Help - About WebWindow now also shows the total number of WebWindow copies running.
Added the text/source code editor 'Source code edit' by Mark Agius.
You can select SourceEdit.exe in the options page, under the Program tab, source text editor program.
Note: This version of SourceEdit.exe can only handle files upto 65,467 bytes.Note: Windows 7 computers can't open the Options window.
Please use version 0.06.0033 or a later version with Windows 7.0.06.0033 (12/08/2010 - 9:00am bst)
THIS VERSION.
If you hold down the 'shift' key when you click on View - Source code or View - Frames... then the source code will load into Source code edit and not your default text editor.

As a different 'Internet options' file path is used with Windows 95/98. Program now loads the correct file with all operating systems.
If you are using an older version of WebWindows, you can fix this bug by copying Inetcpl.cpl from C:\WINDOWS\Inetcpl.cpl to C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetcpl.cpl
(Copy Inetcpl.cpl and don't just move it or the Settings window link won't work)
As there is no default 'Firewall' program with Windows 98 and before, this option is now disabled on those machines.
Added File - Options... - Options edit, Browser tab, 'Network connection'.
This version is compatible with Windows 95 to Windows 7. (First Windows 7 compatible version since version 0.00.0010)Help - About WebWindow now also shows the computer operating system name next to the total number of WebWindow copies running.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 use different code to store the printer page header and footer values.
'File - Header/Footer setup now works on all systems.
The File - Header/Footer setup, Fixed space font option has been replaced with the
Appearance settings as there are too many registry settings with Windows Vista and later systems.
The 'Header/Footer font' is the font used to print the page title, page number etc.
The 'Webpage font' is the font used if the page has not selected a font.
The 'Plain text font' is a fixed space font used in <PRE> tags etc.
'Plain text font' is also used if you load a text file.
In previous versions of WebWindow:
In the Page header and footer history window, clicking on an item in the Header/Footer code list
to copy the value to the clipboard.
(Can only copy one code value at a time)
From this version of WebWindow:

Ignore Web page font sizes specified.
The default search page when you first run WebWindow (or delete the registry key) is now http://www.google.co.uk/search?q= and not http://www.google.co.uk.
So the 'Search box' option will be available. You can still edit this search page address in the option window as with all other versions.
The default Display history titles or URL's value is now set to Titles and not URL's.
So the first time you run WebWindow or run it after deleting the registry key, the history will be displayed as Web page titles and not Web page URL's.
